Divorce Means New Decorations!

Divorce really just rips up everything in your life. I’m not even talking about the obvious stuff. It just seems to ruin so much of the fabric of who you thought you were. Take music, for instance. The old songs you loved are now taken away-they’re too painful. Christmas wreaths you had together, heck, even the Christmas tree itself are too tough to look at. And you feel resentful that a piece of life-like a song-that used to be YOUR history is now ruined.
Well, take heart! For awhile the scale of your life is tilted toward what you lost, but in time you will accumulate enough new life experiences that at least you’ll begin to feel like you’ve got a little more balance. There will be new experiences that replace the old memories, and sure enough those good but painful memories lose their painful edge. Buy new decorations, eat new foods and start new traditions. Each day that ticks by brings you actually FARTHER from a “death” sentence, if you understand my metaphor. In the meantime, believe it or not it really helps to keep those days and your psyche moving to enroll in a divorce-recovery class. There IS hope! Lots of it!
