Politics and Virtual Meetings

Election 2008 is finally over and, it is safe to say, we’ve all seen enough political ads and candidate profiling to tide us over until 2012. No matter what side of the isle your political beliefs fall, it is clear that our countries citizens are slowly realizing the importance of participation in politics. The percentage of citizens who voted is a testament to the importance of participation. Voting is a cornerstone of our countries political foundation; selecting our nations leadership. From the national Presidential election to the state and local level and its officials, political candidates shape the lives of everyday people.

Participation by the average citizen is an important check and balance in today’s political environment. Politicians need to enhance communications with their constituency. Having open meetings where constituents can use video conference facilities to view the proceedings would increase the number of people who see the political action working.  Because most political meetings occur in the state capital, it discourages participation from citizens in rural areas. With a video-conference facility, people don’t have to travel to the state capital to participate in government.  Politicians must encourage citizens to use their voice to participate in shaping our government and a medium such as video conference service could increase participation from average citizens.

New franchise opportunities

When my son was assigned to do a research paper for his business class on what he thought would be a great franchise opportunity for the area we lived in, he took the project seriously.  As a kid he always had a lemonade stand and now in the summers he cut lawns for the neighbors to earn some pocket money. He knew he wanted  to run his own business in a few years, so he was looking at this assignment as foot work for his future.

He was really interested in which sports franchise opportunities might work in the area, so he concentrated on researching what different franchise opportunities were out there that were connected to sports.  He further narrowed down his search to basketball and baseball, his two favorite sports.  In the end baseball won out and seemed to be the best fit for our neighborhood.

He then not only wrote up the market research, but developed the first draft of a business plan for extra credit. It was nice to see him so excited about a school project and if he remains this dedicated I can see him starting a baseball franchise the future.  Once he finishes school, of course!

Collaborative Divorce and Arizona Mediation Easier on Kids

No matter the reasons behind divorce, children are most often negatively affected by the process.  This is largely due to the fact that courtroom divorces are ugly; bringing out nasty aspects of the   parent’s private lives that would otherwise remain hidden from the child.

With Arizona mediation however, the harm caused to the children of divorce can be reduced.

With a collaborative divorce Phoenix parents can resolve situations fairly amicably.  This is because the lawyer in question can help both sides come to an accord regarding hot button issues like custody and property ownership.

In the event of hiring such a divorce lawyer Scottsdale and Phoenix area parents will obtain the tools of communication and discover ways to break the news to their children.  This invaluable information will help parents guide their little ones through the extremely difficult aspects of divorce.

Divorce will never be truly easy for children to accept, especially if they are extremely young.  However, a difficult situation can made even easier when parents behave responsibly and try to find ways to ease the transition for their offspring.

Children of divorce have a lot to deal with, but when spouses take this into account and try to at least be civil out of respect for their kids, the emotional impact is lessened.

Collaborative divorce can help facilitate this, easing aspects of divorce for everyone involved.

Work from Home as a Wedding Planner

Wedding planners are becoming quite popular.  As weddings become infinitely more popular, brides just don’t have time to plan their own weddings all by themselves any longer.  Women work these days, for one thing, rather than sitting at home making linens for their dowries and writing out wedding invitations.  Therefore a wedding planner can often make a good living planning other people’s weddings for them.

What kinds of things will you be doing as a wedding planner?

  • Finding and booking the venue.  For instance, a bride-to-be might tell you she is interested in having a destination wedding or a theme wedding such as a castle wedding.  It will be your job to present her with a number of possibilities, arrange for tours if the bride wishes, and book the venue the bride ultimately decides on.
  • Coordinating with the caterer to plan the meal.  Planning the reception meal can be one of the most tedious parts about the wedding planning process.  The bride probably has no idea what sides go well with what entrees and so forth, so it will be your job to coordinate with the caterer, give the bride some options, and let the caterer know her final decision.
  • Organizing guest lists and ordering invitations.  Another of the most hated tasks for many brides is the whole process of preparing and sending out invitations.  The bride will most likely be more than happy to pass on to you the guest list, not to mention the responsibility for ordering and preparing the invitations to be mailed.

These are just a few of the tasks handled by a wedding planner.  Of course, if you are acting as a wedding planner for someone who is coming in from out of town — for instance, someone who is having her wedding in Michigan in order to get married near family — you will probably be relied on to handle even more of the responsibilities of planning a wedding, standing in for the bride when she can’t be there to do things and make decisions.
