Increasing Security for Cell Phone Banking

Mobile phone banking is becoming more and more popular. However there are risks that consumers take whenever they use mobile phones or personal computers to do their banking. They run the risk of getting hacked and having their financial privacy threatened. MasterCard is coming up with new sms solutions that could help improve e-commerce security using mobile phones.
The company will link traditional mobile messaging solutions with online banking to create a two-part process that will increase the security of online transactions. Before completing an online transaction, the customer will receive a one-time-only code on their mobile phone via text message. This code must be entered before the online bank transaction can take place. Since it is unlikely that someone could hack both your cell phone and your personal computer, it is unlikely that your mobile banking experience would be violated by hackers.
MasterCard is also working on new mobile billing options for customers who wish to complete their transactions entirely by mobile phone. It is likely that they will do all that they can to make sure that these mobile-only transactions are also kept very secure. As mobile banking becomes increasingly popular, cell phone security will have to be strengthened by all companies.
