Advantages to Working from Home

lift reclinersObviously, there are a lot of advantages to working from home.  But one of the biggest advantages is if there is some reason that you can’t work in an office, at least without some difficulty.

For instance, if you have a disability you may find that working from home is a good solution to finding work.  This way you don’t have to bicker with employers over what the Americans with Disabilities Act requires that they do to accommodate you.  Your home is probably already set up to accommodate your disability, so chances are that you are more comfortable working from home, anyway.

Another advantage is that when you work from home, it’s much easier to work on days when you are sick.  When I’m not feeling up to par, I often take my laptop to bed with me, or work from a blanket and pillow “nest” on the couch.  It is much easier to work when you are sick when you have the ability to do what makes you most comfortable.

So for people with disabilities, or folks who are chronically ill, working from home offers a lot of flexibility that they won’t find in regular jobs.  What do YOU appreciate most about working from home?
