Tips for Shortening your To Do List

Do you start each day with a To Do list that feels a mile long? Do you always feel defeated because you never accomplished everything on the list? You should probably shorten your To Do list.
The first thing you should do to shorten your list is to make a To Do list template for everything that must be done weekly or monthly. This will be a separate list that you just post to remind yourself so it doesn’t take up your time (and mental space) on daily To Do lists. Your weekly list may include doing laundry or picking up supplies. These things don’t need to be cluttering up your daily task list.
As you’re making the daily task list, do anything that you can do immediately in a short amount of time. For example, let’s say that you’re about to add “get quote for dentist disability insurance” to your To Do list. It only takes a few minutes to get a disability insurance quote so just make the call and then it never even has to go on the list.
Some people have gotten rid of the To Do list altogether. They keep their required activities down to a minimum. At the end of the day, they may even make a “got done” list to celebrate the day’s accomplishments.
